Lewis Hamilton shows us inside the McLaren Technology Centre
Lewis gives us a tour in this interesting video showing the inside of the McLaren Technology Centre. The first thing I noticed is it is clinically clean. Check out the ‘clear desk’ policy later on in the video!! How can anyone work somewhere that tidy!?! That isn’t natural.
Lewis comes across as a easy going guy and completely different compared to when he is hounded by the press asking stupid questions trying to catch him out.
P.S The video looks very new, I think it was filmed the week after the Bahrain GP 2009 (end of April).
Why I don’t play the lottery..
I found an excellent lottery simulator which shows just how slim the chances are of winning a lottery jackpot (match 6 between 1 and 50). When you run the simulator you will NEVER play the lottery again!
My results were:
To summarise: I had selected 6 numbers (2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12) and at 1 draw a week it took 3.9 million draws (or 76,100 years) to match all six numbers and claim the jackpot. In real time it took the java lottery simulator a little over four days of processing to match the numbers.
Next time friends or colleagues say they are going to have a go at a rollover jackpot or one of the big Euro lotteries and get all excited about spending the winnings, show them this simulator
Formula One: IT
I think it maybe more glamorous than it sounds but I would love to work in ‘IT support’ for a Formula One team. Check out these screen grabs from Melbourne qualifying. It is unusual to have a quick glance behind the scenes:
Is that a rack of servers I see in the background of one of the shots? Anyway, sure is some serious hardware with statistics galore
Fantasy F1: China
The weather played another lead part in the early F1 season – a full wet race was had. Conditions were tricky and the drivers would have been better off with canoes to be honest
An awesome race though and the young genius, Sebastian Vettel, proved he is the new ‘rain master’ by destroying the opposition. Seriously, Coulthard must be pissed off: He retires, Vettel steps in and 3 races later posts Red Bull’s first win! I think the 21 year old will win a World Drivers Championship within 5 years, he is that good.
I had Kovalainen, Barrichello, Button and Brawn GP selected for this GP. Kovalainen came home in 5th to score his first points of the season, Barrichello 4th, Button 3rd and Brawn GP 3rd and 4th. Another good haul of points
Fantasy F1: Malaysia
Continuing the excellent and unpredictable start to the season, the weather decided to have a roll of the dice. And it came up double 6. Not seen a red flagged race for many years, and you need to go even further back for a 0.5 points situation.
I selected Alonso, Barrichello, Button and Brawn F1. Button came home in 1st, Barrichello in 5th and Alonso 11th. Brawn F1 came home in 1st and 5th. Another very good haul of points, I just wish Brawn and co. could be selected all season
Fantasy F1: Australia (results)
What a barnstorming start to the F1 season. My best selection yet, unofrtunately it wasn’t for money. I selected Button, Barrichello, Alonso and Brawn GP. Button came home 1st, Barrichello 2nd, Alonso 5th and Brawn GP 1st and 2nd. A massive haul of points (57!).
Fantasy F1: Australia
Another Fantasy Formula One season starts this weekend. I’m sticking with Yahoo!’s Fantasy Grand Prix as it was good last season. The form of the drivers is unknown at the moment due to all the rule changes so I am going on the most recent tests and have selected the following:
- Alonso
- Barrichello
- Button
- Brawn F1
Obviously all the selections are made before qualifying. All my eggs are in one basket, but I am hoping Brawn F1 can carry their stunning tests to race day. Fingers crossed.
Formula One: 2009 season
Hurrah, the new F1 season starts this weekend. The rule changes are going to make it a good one and the BBC here in the UK have the coverage back so no more adverts. FULL UNINTERRUPTED RACING
. And everything will be one BBC iPlayer so you can watch the race when you want online. Brilliant stuff.
The first race of the season is in at Albert Park in Melbourne. Here is a Google Street View capture of the track on a normal day:
